The demonstration version of allShare has the following restrictions that are NOT imposed on a serialized copy of the program:
1) The demo is time-bombed to not install after December 31, 1990. The user must set his/her system clock back to December 30, 1990 for this demo to operate correctly. Setting it back one week will allow you to run the demo for one week, etc. This is an inconvenience but you can always BUY the product and avoid the hassles.
2) You cannot run this demonstration version in more than one AppleTalk zone;
3) This demo has been created for publishing on public bulletin boards and therefore cannot include the AppleTalk INIT which is necessary to run allShare on a MacPlus (because Apple wrote the AppletalkINIT and we have a specific distribution agreement that doesn't allow this). If you require testing on a MacPlus, please contact us (see below) and we'll arrange to have the AppleTalk INIT sent to you. This INIT is also available if you're running other network products (such as QuickMail, NetModem, NetSerial and Liason - written by other vendors);

The following demonstration version questions have been raised over the past few of months and I've decided to put together this file on answers to the most commonly asked questions.
• Like the serialized version, you CAN run this demo on all Macs in one AppleTalk zone;
• Like the serialized version, you CAN run this demo on all AppleTalk networks (ie. TokenTalk, EtherTalk or LocalTalk);
• Like the serialized version, allShare has been tested on all 128k ROM machines (or greater) running both Finder and Multifinder and with system software versions 6.0.3, 6.0.4, 6.0.5, 6.0.7 and both the alpha and beta System 7.0 versions with no known problems;
• Holding down the "S" key on startup temporarily disables allShare while letting you're other INITs load as per ussual;
• Holding down the "S" and "D" keys on startup stops both the Desktop INIT and the allShare INIT from loading;
• WARNING: don't try to load allShare without either our DesktopINIT or Apple's Desktop Manager present - you'll get an error from the Finder saying the disk needs minor repairs. IF YOU GET THIS MESSAGE, PRESS CANCEL and the system will reboot. You're disk's data is still safe, it's just the Desktop file that needs rebuilding and with allShare installed, it assumes the wrong format for the desktop file(s). If all else, you can still boot from floppy, rebuild the desktop file on the hard-disk and restart. --- Relax, we wouldn't write a product that crashed your hard disk, honest.
• If you have problems trying to get the allShare demo to install, check that the Desktop INIT's icon is displayed during startup (it looks like a Mac ICON with windows on the screen). If the DesktopINIT's icon has a black screen, the desktopINIT didn't install.
• If the allShare icon that is displayed during startup has a cross through the upper portion, the allShare driver failed to install itself into the system heap. Check that the AppleTalk network is installed and Active using the Chooser desk accessory. If it is, call or EMail me and I'll try to help you directly.
